Ed Moss, President and Publisher of The San Diego Union-Tribune, will discuss the new media environment that print media- especially newspapers- are facing. Ed will frame the strategy being implemented by the Union-Tribune aimed at growing the company's market share.

He will share details on how the Union-Tribine plans to hold on to over 1 million weekly readers through a multi-layered plan that showcases the role of the paper, signonsandiego.com - the U-T's web site - and other initiatives to keep the readers engaged and advertisers committed. Ed will discuss how emerging technologies, like the iPad, can be both friend and foe. This promises to be a very informative session so bring your questions - as there will be plenty of time for Q&A.

 

Biography of Mr. Edward R. Moss:

Edward R. Moss is the President and Publisher of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Prior to this appointment, he served as President and CEO of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group (LANG) and Publisher fo the Los Agneles Daily News, responsible for all MediaNews Group operations in Southern California.

Ed has a 33-year career in the media business serving as President and Publisher of newspaper companies in California, Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania; in some of the nation's most competitive markets. He has implemented hyper-local strategies in each of these markets and has led successful transformation of each newspaper company into a multi-media company focusing on print and online solutions for readers and advertisers. Ed currently serves on the Board of Directors of the California Newspaper Publishers Association. In other communities her served on the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce in California, Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana and Pennsylvania.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Ed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Advertising. Ed and his wife, Christine, reside in Rancho Bernardo. Together they have six grown children and one grandchild.
