Since May 2006, David B. Wescoe has served as the Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System (SDCERS).
Mr. Wescoe is an experienced business executive, investment manager and corporate lawyer. Mr. Wescoe was President and CEO of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, the broker-dealer subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual, one of the largest independent broker-dealers in the United States. He also has served as Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for NYSE-listed companies; Executive Director of an independent investment advisory firm, and a partner in private law practice specializing in corporate and securities law. Mr. Wescoe was also Counsel to Commissioners Bevis Longstreth and James C. Treadway, Jr. of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. Wescoe is a sought-after speaker on pension and financial topics and has been quoted by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio and Governing magazine. He also testified before California’s Commission on Public Employee Post-Employment Benefits.
Mr. Wescoe received a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. from the University of Kansas. He earned the Chartered Financial Consultant designation from the American College and has completed executive business education programs at Stanford University and the University of Chicago.
Mr. Wescoe has been a Board member or Board Chair of many non-profit social, educational and arts organizations. He served as national Board Chair of the Kansas University Alumni Association and a Trustee of Trinity School in New York City. He has also served as a Director of La Jolla Music Society, a member of San Diego Social Venture Partners, Chair of the KPBS Planned Giving Advisory Committee and a member of the Development Committee of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
Mr. Wescoe and his wife, Sibyl, have four children and live in La Jolla, CA. His personal interests include contemporary art, jazz, theatre and golf.
